Karen Ducheneaux

Karen Ducheneaux, Hohwoju Lakota, was born on the Cheyenne River Reservation, where she resides with her four children. Karen has worked for Tribal Ventures for 2 1/2 years. She was first hired as a part-time consultant to conduct interviews for the Voices Survey. Later she was trained and contracted to enter the surveys into a database, transcribe the recordings, code, and analyze the Voices data.

She is currently employed full-time with Tribal Ventures doing data analysis, community outreach, and helping to plan for a Lakota language immersion childcare center on Cheyenne River.

Karen is very committed to environmental issues and firmly believes we have an obligation to leave a better world for the next seven generations. She has helped found the Tatanka Wakpala Model Sustainable Community, is on the staff of Mni – Grassroots for Water Justice, and on the Board of Directors for Makoce Ikikcupi.
